The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer - 3.5 Stars
Enjoyed this one- not your typical summer read but as an arts manager I appreciate the sentiment. Growing up playing two instruments and dancing I loved the arts and was good at both art forms. However something you learn as you get older - it's really hard to make a career in the arts! So I became a manager of the arts, figuring it was a good compromise- letting me stay in the field but allowing me to get a job.
Now let's get with a quick synopsis of the book from Amazon as writing was never my strong point. :) Book Club recipes below!
The summer that Nixon resigns, six teenagers at a summer camp for the arts become inseparable. Decades later the bond remains powerful, but so much else has changed. In The Interestings, Wolitzer follows these characters from the height of youth through middle age, as their talents, fortunes, and degrees of satisfaction diverge.
