4 Stars - Just Kids by Patti Smith
A really enjoyable memoir. I was surprised how much I enjoyed reading about Smith's and Mapplethorpe's lives. No fear in New York for them, living on the street, never knowing where the money would really be coming from... as a super planner the thought was baffling and crazy to me but kudos to them for pulling it off.
A great read for book club if you're looking for something different. Short and quick to get through. See below for a tiny synopsis from Amazon.
It was the summer Coltrane died, the summer of love and riots, and the summer when a chance encounter in Brooklyn led two young people on a path of art, devotion, and initiation.
