May 17-20, 2018 - Washington DC
Babies first trip!
Jon had a conference in DC and so we all made the trek (with the help of Jon's parents). Even Loki came along! We stayed just outside the city in Alexandria in a dog friendly hotel.
Once we were all checked in, we made sure Loki was comfortable and then we loaded up to head into the city. We went to the new Wharf area- it was built after I moved away. We were meeting my friend Kate for early dinner and so she could meet the twins. They were very snuggly and warmed right up to her! We also had a delicious dinner while they slept. WIN. Of course when we went to leave it was pouring so that was interesting but we managed to get to the car (with a quick detour for me to get some dessert from Milk Bar :)).
Only a couple of night feedings that evening thankfully and we got a wet interval run in the next morning. Then we decided to take the twins for a little drive over on the National Mall. Between rain we loaded them into their carriers and took them to the Lincoln Memorial and the World War II Memorial. Then back to the hotel for naps and rest while Jon went to his first conference session. AND Luke rolled over for the first time!!
On Saturday we said goodbye to Jon's parents and then headed over to Port City Brewing to meet up with lots of friends. Lots of baby snuggles for everyone and even Jon got to join in toward the end of our time there. An early evening for all of us as we started to get things packed up to head home the next day.
On Sunday we dropped Jon off for this last conference meeting and then headed over to JJ's to hang out for a bit until he was ready for pick up. We got to meet Zuni (Loki got super protective over the babies) but it was a nice visit before we swung back by the Kennedy Center, grabbed Jon and then headed down the highway to home.
A successful first trip!
